In conjunction with Remake Learning Days—West Virginia, Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance in Wheeling will host two story time ballet sessions Sunday, April 30 to promote literacy and the art of dance. Both programs are free and open to the public.

Session one, for students ages 4-6, takes place from 4:30-5:30pm. Children will listen to a reading of “Flora and the Flamingo” and then learn ballet steps highlighted in the book.

Session two takes place from 5:30-6:30pm and is designed for students ages 4-8 with varying cognitive and physical abilities. Parents, guardians, therapists, and aides are welcome to attend. Students will listen to a reading of the uplifting book “I Will Dance,” which follows a young girl born with cerebral palsy as she pursues her dream of becoming a dancer. Then, students and their guests will participate in an all-abilities dance class.
