The Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights, which began in 1985, has grown into one of the nation’s largest holiday light shows. It attracts more than a million visitors each year, including thousands of tour buses from across the United States. Identified as one of the best Christmas displays in the United States by many travel companies and online publications, the Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights covers more than three hundred acres over a six-mile drive throughout Oglebay park. Featuring 90 lighted attractions boasting more than one million lights, this energy-efficient, LED show is sure to amaze guests of all ages.

Festival Favorites

Display favorites include the animated Snowflake and Rainbow Tunnels, Dinosaurs, Cinderella, the larger-than-life Polyhedron Star, Snoopy and Friends, and Willard the Snowman, named for the TV weatherman Willard Scott who joined in the festivities in 1986.

Gardens of Light and Nativity Display

Don’t forget to stop at The Hilltop area of the park to wander the glowing pathways. Here, you’ll find Gardens of Light, Christmas Tree Garden and Nativity attractions, as well as various unique retail shops.

Light & Music Extravaganza at Oglebay Good Zoo

Offered nightly on the Good Zoo outdoor patio, the Light & Music Extravaganza features more than 35,500 LED lights choreographed to the music of the Nutcracker. For information, call 304-243-4100.

Santa’s Reindeer Training School
Learn about Santa’s flying friends from Good Zoo experts!

Meet Santa’s reindeer and the Zoo Keepers who train them during this unique 30-minute animal encounter.

Encounters offered daily at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. Price: $65 per two guests; $15 per additional guest up to 5 guests total (price includes zoo and laser show admission). For advance reservations, book online at

Gardens of Light & Nativity Display

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Bissonnette Gardens aglow with holiday lights!

The Gardens of Light and Nativity Display at the Hilltop features gleaming brick pathways aglow with holiday cheer. Stroll through The Hilltop in Bissonnette Gardens and enjoy 150 twinkling hanging baskets, thousands of lighted flowers and trees, and a festive Nativity display.

At The Hilltop, you’ll also find a large selection of holiday shopping including Carriage House Glass featuring holiday woodland decor including deer, owls, cardinals, nutcrackers and Oglebay’s signature lighted hyacinths. Don’t miss our NEW coffee shop! Farmhouse Sweets & Treats Shoppe takes guests on a trip down Gingerbread Lane with a variety of gourmet candies, ornaments, wine themed holiday decor, and more!

As you travel through the Gardens of Light and Nativity display, stop by the Palm Room Greenhouse for charming seasonal items and gifts for the gardener on your list. Wander the Christmas Tree Garden with three dozen shimmering trees on your way to the spectacular Mansion Museum.

The original summer home of Earl Oglebay features 13 period rooms lavishly appointed with holiday decor. Mansion Museum tours are available daily.
