WHEELING ISLAND WELCOMES 70’S ROCK SENSATION FOGHAT 
The British rock band hits the Wheeling Island stage for 1 live show!

(Wheeling, WV – November 12, 2008) - Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack presents the legendary 70’s rock-n-roll band Foghat live in the Wheeling Island showroom on Saturday, November 15 at 9pm.

Foghat began their career in 1971 as a bunch of rather unpretentious young Brits with an affection for American blues and '50s rock 'n' roll. By the middle of the decade, they had evolved into a major touring and recording act, playing a pumped-up brand of boogie-rock to arena-size audiences. Their looks grew flashier, their sound fattened and filled out, yet the roots-rock core of the band remained ever-present under the surface.

The band hit their peak in the mid-70s with its 1975 release of “Fool For The City” which was their first album to go platinum and introduced Foghat to the Top 40 radio with “Slow Ride”.

The song became a trademark for the band and influenced their future work, while they continued to tour playing in larger venues. In 1976, the band went on to release “Night Shift” yielding the hits “Drivin’ Wheel” “I’ll Be Standing By” and a rocking remake of the R&B classic “Take Me To The River” were also released as singles.

Foghat went on to produce “Foghat Live” in 1977 and “Stone Blue” in 1978 and “Boogie Motel” in 1979 and enjoyed various Top 40 hits along the way. The band continued to tour until early 1985 after some 16 years on the road.

Even today after nearly 30 years, the band continues to perform the basic blues/rock sound they are known for with electrifying energy.
