The excitement of winter is under way at Oglebay with the opening of the Nutting Winter Sports Complex, slated for Friday, Dec. 15. This year, guests will also be able to enjoy tubing in addition to skiing and snowboarding. Slopes will be open Friday through Sunday, weather permitting, and on school closings for Ohio County Schools.

The new snow tubing attraction features four lanes for tubes. A tow rope will transport tubers back to the top of the hill after their run. Children over 42 inches tall are welcome on the tubing lanes. The cost for a three-hour for adults is $20 on Friday or a school closing and $25 on Saturday, Sunday or holidays. For kids ages 6-17, the cost is $15 Fridays/closings and $20 weekends and holidays. Kids under 5 are free with a paying adult.

Skiing and snowboarding will also be open, and equipment rental is also available. Lift ticket and ski/board rental rates vary by day. Specific rates can be found here.  Special twilight rates are available Saturdays after 6 p.m. and Sundays after 5 p.m. Season passes are available for $259 for adults and $199 for children ages 6-17. A family pass is also available for $499.

For guests wanting to try winter sports but lack experience, ski and snowboarding instruction is available for an additional cost. Private ski or snowboarding lessons can be scheduled for $50 an hour, plus $30 for each additional student. Children’s ski and snowboard clinics will be offered each week on Saturdays. The ski clinic runs from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and snowboarding runs from 10 to 11 a.m. The cost is $35 per child. Reservations can be made by calling 304-243-4177.
