Toughman Contest at WesBanco Arena
30th ANNUAL BUDWEISER TOUGHMAN CONTEST INVADES
WHEELING’S WESBANCO ARENA MARCH 12TH & 13th
Jerry Thomas’ West Virginia Sports Promotions, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 30th Annual BUDWEISER ORIGINAL TOUGHMAN CONTEST will return to Wheeling’s WESBANCO ARENA on March 12th & 13TH. This year’s event is being CO-Sponsored by WTOV 9, EAGLE 107, JILL’S GENTLEMAN’S CLUB, BUFFALO WILD WINGS and THOMAS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP. The Host Hotel is the MCLURE CITY CENTER HOTEL.
Fighter’s registrations are now being accepted for the very popular event that is a single elimination boxing tournament, open to area men and women, age 18 to 39, with no pro fights and limited amateur experience. All bouts are scheduled for three, one minute rounds, with all fighters wearing 16 ounce gloves, protective headgear and a mouth piece. All applicants must be in good physical condition. The men’s weight divisions are: middleweight (140-159), light heavyweight (160-184 lbs) and heavyweight (185-400 lbs). Women’s divisions weight classes are; lightweight (155lbs and under) and heavyweight (156 lbs and up).
Up to $8,000.00 in cash prize monies will be awarded. Each of the men’s weight class champions will receive $1,000 and the runners up will each receive $300. Prize money for the women’s divisions will be based on the average number of bouts and paid in proportion to the men’s divisions. In addition, each weight class champion will receive a Toughman Jacket. Each weight class runner up will receive a Trophy. Champions also qualify to advance to the World Championships.

The event is sanctioned and will be supervised by the West Virginia State Athletic Commission. It is also sanctioned by API, the international promoters of Toughman.
