It’s glossy! It’s colorful! And it’s jam-packed with what to do, where to eat and places to stay in the Wheeling-Ohio County area and beyond.
“IT” is the fresh-off-the-presses 2019 Wheeling Visitors Guide, created by the Wheeling-Ohio County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Over 100,000 copies of the 36-page brochure are distributed locally, as well as throughout the country and even abroad, said Olivia Litman, CVB marketing director.
“It’s just a nice welcome,” she said. “It kind of gives you an understanding of what we have to offer. It has a very nice event calendar,” although she does urge people to go to the website for the most up-to-date information.
This year’s publication highlights the City of Wheeling’s 250th anniversary and the events surrounding it.
“We’re really hoping people will get one and keep it as a commemorative piece from the celebration this year, and put it in a time capsule for the 300th celebration!”
Oglebay, Wheeling Island Casino-Hotel-Racetrack and Cabela’s also are featured in the brochure. Maps, attractions, dining and lodging options, shopping, services, Heritage Port festivals along with advertisements fill out the rest of the informative piece.
The CVB, located at 1401 Main St., Wheeling, is a “hidden gem” for locals and visitors alike, Litman noted. Along with the latest guide, hundreds of brochures and flyers on attractions and upcoming events are available at the CVB.
“Visitors’ experience is our No. 1 goal,” she noted.

“All the information in the guide is on the app and is updated regularly,” Litman said.
